Elena Ambotaite was born in the beautiful country of Lithuania in 1984. Early on in life she revealed her artistic side by drawing on the walls, bottoms of tables and decorating dolls with blue pen doodles.
At age twelve her mother recognized her potential and encouraged her to participate in competitions to enter art school. Along with high school, she attended The Panevežys Fine Arts School, founded in 1967. Courses taught included: drawing, painting in oil, gouache and water color, sculpture, composition and art science. Her work was exhibited in one of the city libraries and on another occasion her pieces were donated as a gifts for government officials. Four years later Elena graduated with a certificate at the top of her class.
At age sixteen she moved to The United States and lived in New York. The huge culture shock both broadened her horizons, exposing her to diverse cultures and lifestyles and made her appreciate family values even more.
Entering art school was a tough decision, since being an immigrant and an artist did not guarantee financial security, but it was a decision that was driven by gut feeling and one that proved to be correct. In 2004 Elena received Associates degree in Fashion Illustration at Fashion Institute of Technology and in 2006 Bachelor's degree in Applied Science from the same school. She is currently working on Masters degree at Fashion Institute of Technology as well as working as a full time hosiery designer for Gina Group, whos clients include Steve Madden, Rocawear, Kmart, Payless, TJ Maxx, Avia and others.
In her spare time Elena does freelance illustrations and graphic design for publications and private clients. Her work has also been featured in The Big Book Of Fashion Illustration by Martin Dawber and Advanced Fashion Drawing by Bil Donovan and exhibited in the F.I.T museum as well as Society of Illustrators in Los Angeles
